Attic insulation
Attic insulation is generally the most cost effective of any energy efficiency upgrade made to a house. Even if you have some attic insulation you should upgrade it to today's standard of 300mm of earthwool, rockwool or equivalent.
Who can apply
All homeowners, including landlords, whose homes were built and occupied before 2011 can apply. This is defined as the date your electricity meter was installed.
Grant funding can only be issued once per property for each type of works.

STEP 1
Fill out the online application on this site:
https://hes.seai.ie/GrantProcess/ApplyForGrantAfterWizard.aspx
You will need the MPRN number from your electricity bill and the name of your contractor (PRO INSULATION - 17120) from the SEAI register. You will be approved within minutes.
You will receive a form in the post called the Declaration of Works – one for each energy upgrade which is filled in by you, your registered Contractor and your BER assessor when the works and BER are completed.
Attention: APPLY FOR GRANT A FEW DAYS BEFORE STARTING WORK!
STEP 2
You have 8 months from the date of the grant offer to complete the works on your home and return the paperwork. You can find the expiry date in your offer letter. Within this time you will need to:
*Have your selected works completed and forms signed by an SEAI registered contractor
*Pay your contractor in full
Roof ventilation: In order to get the grant there has to be sufficient attic ventilation, it may require roof tile or roof slate / soffit vents to be installed.
STEP 3
Get a BER assessor to complete your BER assessment and your cert published.

For payment, please submit your completed Declaration of Works form and your Request For Payment form
